What is the Child Care Subsidy?

The Child Care Subsidy, commonly referred to as CCS, is a government-funded program aimed at reducing the cost of child care for Australian families. It is applied directly to your child care fees, helping to make quality early learning more affordable.

Am I eligible for the Child Care Subsidy?

Eligibility for CCS is determined based on a few key factors. Your child must be under 13 years old and not attending secondary school. Parents or guardians need to meet activity requirements such as working, studying, or volunteering. Income thresholds also play a role in determining your eligibility, and Ace Academy Early Learning is an approved child care provider where the subsidy can be utilised.

How do I apply for the subsidy?

You can submit your application for CCS via your myGov account, which must be linked to Centrelink. Once your application is processed, you will receive a confirmation outlining your eligibility and subsidy percentage. Please ensure you provide Ace Academy Early Learning with the necessary details so we can apply the subsidy to your account.

How is the amount of my subsidy calculated?

The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of child care you use, and the number of hours of recognised activities, such as work or study, you engage in. Families with lower incomes generally receive a higher subsidy, while those with higher incomes may receive less.

How is the subsidy applied to my fees?

The subsidy is paid directly to Ace Academy Early Learning on your behalf, reducing the total amount of your fees. You will be responsible for paying the remaining balance, also referred to as the gap fee.

What happens if my child is absent?

The subsidy will cover up to 42 absences per financial year, which include reasons such as holidays or sick days. Additional absences may also be covered under specific conditions, such as medical emergencies, provided documentation is supplied.

What should I do if my circumstances change?

It’s important to update your details through your myGov account if your family income, activity hours, or other relevant circumstances change. Keeping your information current ensures your subsidy remains accurate and avoids potential overpayments or underpayments.

Can Ace Academy help with the application process?

Absolutely. We understand that navigating the CCS process can feel complex, and our team is here to help. Whether you have questions about your eligibility or need assistance with your application, we’re more than happy to provide guidance.

Do I need to reapply for CCS each year?

Yes, your details will need to be confirmed annually. Centrelink will notify you when it’s time to review and update your information to ensure uninterrupted access to your subsidy.
